Opening the Question Box

This Sunday, it’s time for one of our most popular services, “The Question Box.”

During the offering, you’ll be invited to write down your question on an index card. We’ll gather them, then AJ and I will answer as many as we can during the “sermon” time of the service.

One of the most touching testimonials that I hear about Unitarian Universalism comes from our encouragement of questions, not only in this service, but all of the time. Fairly often, a member will talk about having grown up in a more theologically conservative church and getting in trouble for asking questions. Some have even been excommunicated for daring to ask a priest/pastor, “Why?”

We welcome your questions here. We encourage them. AJ and I will answer questions to the best of our knowledge, but we’re also okay with saying, “Gee, I don’t know. I’ll have to do some research and get back to you on that.”

Any questions that we don’t have time for in the service become inspiration for future newsletter columns and maybe even sermons.
